To deeply implement the Central Committee’s vision that "clear water and green mountains are invaluable assets," to study General Secretary Xi’s thoughts on ecological civilization, to understand the current situation of agriculture, rural areas, and farmers, and to inspire graduate students with the sense of responsibility and mission in advancing agricultural development, the International Magnesium Institute of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University organized a group of 13 graduate students from the class of 2024. They went to Gusheng Village in Dali, Yunnan Province, and actively participated in the 2024 Pre-admission Training for graduate students in the National Science and Technology Backyard.

Recently, the training program "Education on Learning Agriculture, Loving Agriculture and Studying Science and Technology Backyard" was completed. Thirteen graduate students expressed that systematic study over the past few days provided them with a comprehensive understanding of the development and growth history of STB. They gained in-depth knowledge about the current situation of "agriculture, rural areas, and farmers" in China and the problems we face. This experience deepened their awareness of the urgency and severity of agricultural development and highlighted the key role of scientific and technological innovation in agricultural development. Under the meticulous guidance and enthusiastic explanation of the teachers and senior students, we cultivated a deeper affection for agriculture, improved our skills for developing agriculture, and adhered to the concept of "solving people's livelihood and exploring knowledge" of the STB. We are committed to accelerating the modernization of agriculture and rural areas and contributing to the comprehensive implementation of rural revitalization.

The training program was organized by the Graduate School of China Agricultural University, the College of Resources and Environmental Sciences, and the National Institute for Green Development. This training was scheduled to take place in Dali, Yunnan Province, from June 30 to August 15, 2024. This 45-day orientation aims to provide comprehensive training for new students. The training program covered the following key aspects: cultivating a deep understanding and passion for agriculture through education and hands-on learning in the Science and Technology Backyard, integrating with farmers and embracing challenges to cultivate a genuine appreciation for agriculture, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills to enhance agricultural expertise, engaging in platform-based practice and specialized training to refine practical abilities, and conducting evaluations to summarize experiences and quantify outcomes. Through this close interaction with farmers, students will gain a profound understanding of the essence of the "agriculture, rural areas, and farmers" issues.
