On December 28th, the National Grand Final of the 3rd "Pinduoduo Cup" STB Competition under the China Postgraduate Competition on Science and Technology Empowering Agriculture for Rural Revitalization and Innovation was successfully held in Sanya, Hainan. Following rigorous on site project presentations and expert evaluations, the team from Pinghe honey pomelo STB in Fujian stood out among 247 teams nationwide. With strong scientific research achievements and significant social service impact, the team was awarded the National Second Prize.

Under the theme “Solving Livelihood Issues and Pursuing Academic Research”, the competition focused on practical challenges in agriculture and rural development. Responding to the call of "Writing Theses on the Motherland's Land", the team rooted its work in the pomelo orchards of Pinghe.It targeted key industry bottlenecks, including excessive and blind fertilization, declining fruit quality, and environmental pressure. The team developed three core technologies covering efficient fertilization and soil improvement, established three service models including one to one technical assistance, volunteer based training, and cross regional extension, and launched a scientific fertilization mini program.

Over the past three years, this integrated solution has reduced fertilizer input while improving nutrient use efficiency, enhanced pomelo quality, increased farmers’ yields and income, and improved the regional ecological environment.
Fusuo Zhang, Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Initiator of the STB, stated at the closing ceremony that the students of the STB have truly integrated practical action and academic reflection into the land of the motherland.
