On June 8, 2022, the Pinghe Honey Pomelo Research Institute of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University unveiled a ceremony held in Pinghe County.

At the ceremony, Zheng Baodong, deputy secretary of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, and Huang Yongjian, governor of Pinghe County, signed the co-construction agreement of Pinghe Honey Pomelo Research Institute of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University on behalf of both sides. The leaders jointly inaugurate the Pinghe Honey Pomelo Research Institute of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University (FAFU).

According to the agreement, Pinghe Honey Pomelo Research Institute of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University is jointly established by Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University and Pinghe County People's Government. The Institute will give full play to the advantages of science and technology, talent resources of FAFU and pomelo industry advantages in Pinghe County, and strive to build the institute into a platform for interdisciplinary innovation. Under the guidance of the academic committee, the director of the academic committee is Academician Fusuo Zhang, a distinguished professor of FAFU and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The Institute has set up expert workstations and post-doctoral research workstations, which are committed to innovating the theory, technology and product system of the green and high-quality development of pomelo and establishing the mode of interdisciplinary talent introduction and training. Jointly carry out technology promotion and application with Pinghe County people's Government and local state-owned enterprises to achieve green and high-quality development of the pomelo industry and rural revitalization in Pinghe County.
