For in-depth learning the General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important spirit of answering letter to the students of STB of China Agricultural University, the Party branch of Pinghe Honey Pomelo STB along with all faculty and students, actively participated in the report on "solving people's livelihood and exploring knowledge" delivered by Academician Zhang Fusuo on the afternoon of May 16.

In the report, Academician Zhang provides insights into the establishment background and developmental history of the STB, and reviewed the hard days of the early establishment of the STB. He further introduced the unique training mode of the graduate students at the STB, i.e., their long-term presence in rural areas, engagement in the agricultural industry and other production lines. This approach involves carrying out scientific and technological innovation, social services and talent training in direct collaboration with farmers, enterprises, and the government at a “zero distance”. Academician Zhang then guided everyone to focus on learning the soul of the STB: reality and thinking. “Reality” means it is necessary to wear a hat to work in the fields, be down to earth, go deep into frontline production to make innovations in science and technology, and serve agriculture, rural areas, and farmers. “Thinking” is to put the world of farmers in the minds of teachers and students, and to do practical things for them. The two simple yet profound principles encapsulated the spirit of teachers and students in STB, and conveyed Academician Zhang's sincere expectations for everyone. Finally, Academician Zhang told everyone to always keep in mind the spirit of the STB: Science for the people and struggle for the country.

In his report, Academician Zhang introduced Pinghe Honey Pomelo STB as a typical example of STB to the national agricultural colleges and universities. He affirmed the existing achievements and efforts of Pinghe Honey Pomelo STB and put forward higher requirements and hopes for Pinghe Honey Pomelo STB.
