The 3rd Seminar of the National Magnesium Network (NMN) was held in Nanjing City,
Jiangsu Province on 17-19 July 2017.The seminar took place in the College of
Resources and Environmental Sciences, Nanjing Agricultural University, and was
hosted by Prof. Shiwei Guo and his team.The topics of the seminar were recent
research and future plans of the NMN.The plant nutritionists Prof. Ismail Cakmak
from Subanci University, and Prof. Andreas Gransee from K+S KALI GmbH from
Germany were invited to the seminar, together with Prof. Xinping Chen from
Southwest University, Prof. Shiwei Guo and Prof. Yiyong Zhu from Nanjing
Agricultural University, whogave constructive comments and suggestions. More than
50 young scientists and graduate students participated in the seminar.
Prof. Ismail
Cakmak and Prof. Andreas Gransee shared their recent research on microelements in
plants, describing their physiological functions, xylem and phloem transport,
and consequences for food security. A list of“Several Basic Issues to be considered in Magnesium-Trials” was presented and explained
to members of the NMN.
