On the morning of April 15, 2019, "High Yield and High Efficiency meeting and field demonstration of tea production" was held in Wuyishan City, Fujian province. Dr. Liangquan Wu from Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, Ms. Xuemei Bao, Vice President of Hubei Xinyangfeng Fertilizer, Dr. Liang Wu from R&D Center of Hubei Xinyangfeng Fertilizer and more than 200 people including fertilizer dealers and farmers attended the meeting. The meeting aimed to:

  1. Prove the optimum ratio of N, P and K fertilizer application in tea production;

  2. Demonstration of the effect of magnesium fertilizer on tea leaves quality and use efficiency improvement of fertilizers;

  3. Give guidance to tea farmers how to apply fertilizer scientifically;

  4. and help the green development of Wuyi Rock Tea production and fertilizer use efficiency.

Dr. Liangquan Wu introduced the developmental status of tea industry in Wuyishan City and the characteristics of soil nutrient status in Wuyi Rock Tea producing areas. Meanwhile, he explained the key points of fertilization technology for tea tree nutrient features.

Then, dealers and farmers went to Huangyuan village of Wuyishan City to observe the experimental demonstration field. Compared with farmers’ fertilizer practice, optimized fertilization reduced fertilizer input, maintained tea yield and improved nutrient utilization efficiency. The addition of magnesium fertilizer obviously increased the number of tea buds and increased yield and farmers’ income. Dr. Liangquan Wu explained the experimental setup scheme and results of the experimental site, he also enthusiastically answered questions for the farmers who came forward to consult.
