The 2nd International Magnesium
Institute (IMI) board meeting was held at the Fujian Agriculture and Forestry
University (FAFU) on 5th, 6th of Apr, 2018. International
experts Prof. Dr Ismail Cakmak from Turkey,Prof. Klaus
Dittert and Dr. Rolf Haetdter from Germany, Prof. Philip White from United
Kingdom, Prof. Zed Rengel from Australia, Dr. Yanliang Guo and Dr. Ezio Nalin
de Paulo from K+S, also the domestic university teachers and students from FAFU,
China Agricultural University, Nanjing Agricultural University, Vegetable
Research Institute of Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Guangzhou
Sugarcane Sugar Industry Research Institute, Southwest University, Jiangxi
Agricultural University, Kunming University of Science and Technology and so on
around 50 participants had attended this meeting.
Prof. Fusuo Zhang, the Chairman of the IMI
had reviewed the IMI establishment and the recent achievement in research work
of the year. Members of the IMI had discussed the preparation work and
conference agenda of the 3rd International Magnesium Symposium in Guangzhou,
Nov. 2018. Also discussed the IMI framework and future development plan. Then,
all participants had divided into five groups to present and further discuss their work with
international experts. The topic had covered Mg and assimilate translocation
and distribution, Mg fertilizer production, Mg nutrition and quality, Mg
physiology and molecular biology and Mg dynamics in soil and soil
acidification. The aim of this meeting is not only focus on academic exchange,
but also building up the bridge between young scientists and graduate students
in China and international experts.
At last, Prof. Fusuo Zhang made the conclusion of this meeting and
highlighted the significant work and the next stage plan of the IMI and the National
Magnesium Network.
