Three years after the epidemic, the 2023 Academic Exchange Symposium of the National Magnesium Network (NMN) was held offline from July 31 to August 2 in Dali, Yunnan Province. More than 60 people, including backbone teachers, science and technology researchers, and excellent graduate students actively engaged in magnesium nutrition research, magnesium fertilizer production, and its promotion and application, attended the meeting in Gusheng Village, Dali.
Professor Chunjian Li, Executive Deputy Director of the IMI and Professor of China Agricultural University, chaired the symposium. Academician Fusuo Zhang, Director of the International Magnesium Institute, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Professor of China Agricultural University, also attended the meeting and delivered the opening speech. He expressed the hope that magnesium nutrition research work could be closely integrated with national green development to achieve the highest goals of the International Magnesium Institute: improving yield and quality, reducing environmental pollution, and achieving green agricultural development. It was expected that teachers could communicate more with Erhai Green Research Institute teachers and students and apply the magnesium research in the broader context of national agricultural green development. Professor Shiwei Guo, Chief Scientist of IMI, Professor of Nanjing Agricultural University, and Professor Xuexian Li of China Agricultural University also attended the meeting.
Eleven young magnesium nutrition researchers from nine scientific research institutes across the country shared their research results during the meeting. They presented advancements in the effects of magnesium nutrition on crop physiological function and related quality, soil magnesium leaching characteristics, magnesium fertilizer research, and development, popularization and application, and crop magnesium nutrition management technology, etc. The experts at the meeting provided valuable suggestions on mining experimental results and clarified further work plans.
