On May 10, 2024, at the invitation of the College of Resources and Environment of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, Prof. Oene Oenema, Nobel Prize winner, Professor of Wageningen University in the Netherlands and Distinguished Professor of China Agricultural University, visited FAFU for academic exchange. He delivered a wonderful academic lecture titled “Animal production and manure management in a circular bio-economy” to the faculty members and students. In the lecture, Prof. Oene introduced the advanced experience of animal production and waste management in the European Union and finally summarized how to achieve efficient agricultural production under the multi-objective coordination of protecting farmers' interests and environmental emission reduction optimization. The report was vivid and profound. Teachers and graduate students had academic exchanges and discussions with Prof. Oene.

After the meeting, Prof. Oene visited Zhiqing Eco-Environmental Protection Co., LTD. (Fuqing City) and Zhangzhou Liannanqiang Eco-Agriculture Development Co., LTD. (Nanjing County) from May 10 to 11. During his visits, he gained an in-depth understanding of advanced manure treatment technologies, such as ultra-high-temperature composting, overlapping composting, and biogas fermentation. He also visited the manure production centre, product research and development areas, manure replacement fertilizer planting test site, and experimental testing centre. Prof. Oene also engaged in discussions with the company's technical staff on the safe treatment of livestock and poultry manure, improving the value of manure-based fertilizer products and their nutrient content. He addressed specific questions raised by the companies and provided them with valuable suggestions.
