On 25 August 2022, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations and China Agricultural University (CAU) jointly hosted the "Science and Technology Backyard" Experience Sharing session under the webinar, in which the theme was "Multi-actors Innovation Platforms (MAIP): experience from the science and technology backyard approach". It introduced China's STB model to the global staff engaged in agricultural science and technology innovation, technology transformation and talent cultivation. More than 500 people from over 50 countries on five continents attended this webinar.

Professor Fusuo Zhang made the conference report; "STB: a novel approach to agriculture green development". He introduced the founding intention and development process of the STB. Through establishing the STB, teachers and students are encouraged to stay at the front line of agricultural production, solve the problems in agricultural production, and cultivate batches of outstanding agricultural talents through scientific research and social services.

Alfred Tsitsi, project specialist of the FAO office in Malawi, Professor Weifeng Zhang from CAU, Xinmin Lin, a local farmer from FAFU Pinghe and Pomelo STB, and David Ngula Muttendango, CAU graduate student representative of China-Africa STB Project, participated in the discussion. From the perspective of experts, farmers and postgraduates, the discussion covered several aspects, including their experience in STB and how to benefit from the STB model.

Especially, Xinmin Lin, a local farmer of Pinghe Honey Pomelo STB, shared his experience of cooperation with STB in this meeting. Lin actively led the surrounding farmers to participate in the training activities conducted by STB teachers and students in each township. He has participated in more than 30 science popularization training activities and led more than 1500 pomelo farmers to learn and apply the technology of the STB series. In the past six years, STB series technology has reduced fertilizer application by around 60% for honey pomelo in Pinghe County, creating a cumulative economic value of 1 billion yuan.
