6-9, 2019, “13th IPI-CAU-ISSAS
International Symposium-Potash and Polyhalite: Potassium, Sulphur, Magnesium
and Calcium for Efficient Balanced Plant Nutrition” opened with great
ceremony held in Kunming, Yunnan province.

The symposium was organized by the International
Potash Institute (IPI), China Agricultural University (CAU) and Institute of
Soil Science and Chinese Academy of Sciences (ISSAS).Prof.
Fusuo Zhang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of
the National Institute of Green Agricultural Development of China Agricultural
University, was invited to serve as the Chairman in this conference. At the
same time, many international well-known experts, as well as the domestic
experts from soil science, plant nutrition, plant physiology, agronomy,
horticulture, ecology and environment and other disciplines had been invited to
present on the conference. This conference focused on the latest development of
plant potassium nutrition and discussed the important role of potash and polyhalite
in promoting sustainable development of agriculture. About 250 experts and industry
participants attended the conference.
On the
afternoon of November 7, Prof. Chunjian Li of CAU and Deputy Director of
International Magnesium Institute (IMI), delivered a speech “Application of
Magnesium Fertilizer is Necessary in Chinese Agriculture”. Prof. Li comprehensively expounded the research
progress of plant magnesium nutrition from the perspective of plant magnesium
nutrition physiology, pointed out the deficiency in the application of
magnesium fertilizer in agricultural production, and looked forward to the
application prospect of magnesium fertilizer in China's agricultural production.
Besides, as the delegator of IMI，Prof. Li also introduced the
development of IMI and the work and research progress
in magnesium nutrition carried out by the National Magnesium Network（NMN）.
